HOW I USED CHATGPT TO START AN ONLINE SIDE HUSTLE AS A MOM.

Let me be honest—I never planned to start an online business. As a busy mom of four all under 14, most days felt like a blur of school runs, laundry, and negotiating with picky eaters. I loved being a hands-on mom, but deep down, I wanted something more—something that was mine, that made money, and didn’t require me to leave the house for so long away from the kids.

I found out teaching could give me a little of the flexibility I seek but the stark reality is that with the ever growing expenses one needs other sources of income.

My search for an alternative source of income started and 

Then,

 I stumbled on ChatGPT. At first, I thought it was just some techy tool for developers and nerds. But one night while  scrolling online. I saw a video on YouTube, it was  titled “How Moms Can Make Money Using ChatGPT”. I clicked—and that 10- minute video changed everything.

       The light bulb moment 

I realized that ChatGPT could help me write content, create products, and even generate business ideas—all without needing to be an expert. I didn’t need a fancy laptop or coding skills. Just my phone, a little creativity, and determination.

That night, I asked ChatGPT a simple question:

“Give me business ideas for a busy mum be it stay-at-home or actively working outside the home,who wants to make money online.”

The results? Mind-blowing. From content creation to digital products, I saw possibilities I had never imagined.

Creating My First Digital product

After taking out time to understand and learn how to prompt effectively,

I decided to create a prompt pack— to ease moms and anyone seeking to make money online the stress and save time on randomly trying to get the right response from chatGpt.

This prompt pack can be used by

busy moms like me to generate content, launch side hustles, or even write emails and social media posts. I called it:

Selling without being a tech guru

Now the big question: how do I sell this?

I will tell you exactly what I did.

I uploaded it to Selar,payhip and Gumroad—these platforms are perfect for beginners like me. Then I wrote a short story on Facebook about my journey ( people love real stories!).

To my surprise, the results has been fantastic.. I haven't made a million naira, but I know I am on the part of doing those figures soon .

Why this matters to moms

I’m sharing this because I know there are other moms out there like me:

Tired of depending on just one income

Wanting to do something meaningful outside of motherhood

Feeling like they don’t have enough time, energy, or tech knowledge

I’m here to tell you: if I can do it, so can you.

You don’t need to know everything. You just need to start—with what you have. ChatGPT is like a supportive big sister who gives you ideas, writes drafts for you, and helps you figure things out.

Final Thoughts

This side hustle gave me more than money. It gave me confidence. It reminded me that I can still dream, create, and grow—even in the chaos of motherhood.
